THERAPYSPINE

For Rehabilitation of Spinal Injuries and Conditions

Therapeutic exercise helps manage symptoms, including pain, improve function and prevent reinjury. It is an important part of physiotherapy rehabilitation.

WHEN DOES IT HELP?

The TherapySpine therapeutic exercise pathway focuses on the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine, primarily rehabilitating musculoskeletal spinal injuries and conditions such as chronic lower back pain, neck pain, cervicobrachial syndrome, intervertebral disc herniation, spondylolisthesis, lower back pain with sciatica, radiculopathy, fractures and degenerative changes.

WHAT DOES IT INVOLVE, AND WHY IS IT SUITABLE FOR YOU?

The TherapySpine therapeutic exercise programme begins with a comprehensive assessment of motor control, range of movement, strength and functional skills in the trunk and pelvis. We use the findings to plan treatment and set measurable goals, taking account of the condition’s stage and each patient’s abilities. The individualised programme usually includes stabilisation and motor control exercises for the deep spinal and pelvic muscles to improve posture, strengthening for the other trunk muscles, stretching for flexibility and endurance exercises. We also work on spinal functions such as bending, lifting, squatting, walking and running.

WHICH METHODS AND TOOLS DO WE USE TO ACHIEVE OUR GOAL?

The TherapySpine pathway aims to return each person to everyday activities and restore function using new interventions such as Clinical Pilates on the mat and Reformer, Clinical Functional Training, and modern equipment including Swiss balls, weights, resistance bands and Clinical Suspension Training – TRX.
