Soft Tissue Techniques Seminar:
Therapeutic Massage, Trigger Point Therapy, Cupping Therapy,
Myofascial Release Tools & Self-Myofascial Release
Program Information
Format: Hybrid training – Intensive in-person instruction combined with asynchronous e-learning
Duration: 40 hours (32 in-person + 8 asynchronous learning)
Structure: 2 parts (two-day seminars & educational material), delivered in the fall or spring semester
Teaching Languages: Greek or English
Locations: Greece & Cyprus
Number of Participants: Maximum of 19 participants
Program Content
The Soft Tissue Techniques training program focuses on myofascial release and the rehabilitation of patients with musculoskeletal and sports injuries, as well as conditions affecting the myofascial system.
Grounded in contemporary scientific literature and modern clinical practice, the seminar integrates theory and hands-on training in the assessment and treatment of myofascial dysfunctions.
Participants learn to identify key clinical findings — pain, reduced range of motion, spasms, and dysfunctional postural or movement patterns — and to develop effective interventions using soft tissue techniques through structured clinical reasoning.
Training Modules
- Therapeutic Massage
Therapeutic massage forms the foundation of all soft tissue techniques.
Participants are trained in region-specific manual techniques, their purpose, and their expected outcomes.
Practical application includes techniques for pain reduction, relaxation, muscle spasm release, improved circulation, and myofascial decompression. Τrigger Point Therapy
Training includes assessment, palpation, and manual treatment of Trigger Points.
The technique is applied to regions of the spine and peripheral joints, aiming to reduce pain and restore soft tissue function.Cupping Therapy
Cupping Therapy is one of the oldest and most widely recognized myofascial release techniques.
Participants learn safe, correct, and effective application, enabling them to integrate cupping into treatment plans and design complete therapeutic sessions.Myofascial Release Tools
Instrument-assisted myofascial release has become an integral part of modern rehabilitation.
This module introduces the tools, their proper handling, and the various techniques used to address adhesions and myofascial restrictions, mobilize scar tissue, and reduce swelling and hematomas.
Participants learn practical applications and clinical reasoning for incorporating tools safely and effectively into treatment sessions.Self Myofascial Release
The final module focuses on self-applied myofascial release and Trigger Point reduction using massage balls and foam rollers.
Participants practice designing stretching and self-release programs that actively involve the patient, supporting the completion and long-term effectiveness of soft tissue therapy.
Learning Outcomes
The Soft Tissue Techniques Seminar aims to provide physiotherapists with a comprehensive training system in soft tissue techniques, combining scientific evidence, hands-on application, and clinical safety.
By completing the Soft Tissue Techniques Seminar, participants will acquire the following knowledge and skills:
- Understanding of the theoretical background of all soft tissue techniques:
Therapeutic Massage, Trigger Point Therapy, Cupping Therapy, Myofascial Release Tools, and Self-Myofascial Release. - Familiarity with contemporary scientific evidence supporting the effectiveness of these techniques, through the analysis of recent literature and research findings.
- Ability to assess myofascial dysfunctions and related symptoms such as pain, reduced range of motion, and dysfunctional movement or postural patterns.
- Development of clinical reasoning to select the appropriate techniques based on the patient’s needs and functional presentation.
- Understanding of the mechanisms of action, outcomes, indications, and contraindications for all soft tissue techniques.
- Application of specialized manual techniques for the spine and peripheral joints using all methods:
Therapeutic Massage, Trigger Point Therapy, Cupping Therapy, Myofascial Release Tools, and Self-Myofascial Release. - Design of therapeutic strategies for the rehabilitation of musculoskeletal and sports injuries, as well as conditions affecting the myofascial system.
